In August, a crew from Planet Repair and the Urban Permaculture Design Course headed down to build stick structures during the set-up for the Pickathon music festival outside of Portland. We built a stick beer garden, a stick pizza joint, and beautiful stick arches and gateways, all nestled in the woods. As experienced stick architects, we also fixed up the stick stage where performances took place all weekend long. It’s amazing to think that a healthy forest can provide all of the resources that one needs to build structures while it continues to regenerate and grow – so long as one treats it right!
In exchange for our stick artistry, the whole crew was granted passes to the music festival, which featured smoking good music, wonderful company, and a definite highlight of the summer!
